In Your Old Age

Well, you have spent a hell of a life and now you are retiring, for good. We all deserve a good vacation at the end of every magnificent task, and you have just earned it. To have lived for so long, to go through the ups and downs of life is really an admirable task. It is not easy to cope with everything that life throws at you and it is not fair. But hey, now it is time to party! To sit back, relax and enjoy – the rest of your life. Your children are all grown up now, the position you held has been taken care of, and you are finally free from the chains of responsibility that have bound you for so long. Now mister, go do some crazy things. Just because you are well over half a century, do not let that stop you.

Play golf, catch up with school mates from decades ago, go fishing, go hiking and then break a bone or two and go see an osteopath. Throw a fancy barbeque party, get some fashionable clothes, explore the country – your options never end. What a lot of people do after retiring is stay at home to look after the grandchildren or resolve to go to an elders’ home. You do not have to be that way, awaken your inner monster and go have fun. You have had plenty of time to work for others, raise your children, stay stuck at an office desk; now is the time to do everything you couldn’t do back then.

Go for a nice relaxation by remedial massage that used to treat ailments, grab some drinks with a few mates, and pay a surprise visit to an old flame and what’s good about it? No one will blame you. Even if they do, you know what to say. Tell them loud and clear that you are investing on yourself at last and say that you have a long bucket list.

I urge you to not sit at an arm chair in your old house, contemplating life. Life is too short for all that jazz. Never look back and have regrets. Whatever it was that you went through, you learnt something f r it. It made you wiser and a lot stronger so do not start taking that album that you always feared to look at and tear. No. that is not what you do when you retire. Understand that we all make mistakes and just say “oh, well” and get over it. Stop lingering in your past because you don’t belong there. So get up on your feet and make it the best time of your life!
